FACTS

  • 46 million people in the United States are in poverty which consists mainly of children.
  • Black males are eight times more likely to be murdered than White males.
  • Most people in poverty work, despite the mythology that poor people are lazy.
  • Hispanics have the highest drop-out rate, even higher than Blacks.
  • United States citizens make up 25% of the consumers for Human Trafficking--the buying and selling of human beings for purposes such as labor or sex.
  • Because of mandatory minimum prison sentences for drug offenders, violent criminals are often released from prison to make room for drug offenders.
  • Standardized tests only recognize talents in areas such as reading or mathematics, while ignoring abstract thinking such as imagination, creativity, or any forms of art.
  • Standarized testing is advantageous for the middle and upper-class because it assumes that children have been exposed to things such as museums, zoos, parks, or other priviledges that the poor often miss out on.
  • Standardized testing is bullshit.
  • Criminals believe that they are misunderstood by the population. Police officers also believe that they aren't understood by the people.
  • People often deny any mental illness because once they are labeled as having a disease, the stigma that society has created causes shame or embarassment for these people. All in all, we are all on the same continuum of mental stability, some just fall onto different ends than other people.
  • The majority of people believe that crime has become worse in recent years despite the reality that crime rates have been dropping over the past few decades.
  • The economy does not necessarily correlate to crime rates although abortion may.
